History: Milk Thistle was once grown in Europe as a vegetable. The de-spined leaves were used in salads and for spinach substitution; the stalks and root parts were also consumed, even the flower portion was eaten “artichoke style”. The roasted seeds were used as a coffee substitute. Various preparations of Milk Thistle, especially the seeds, have been used medicinally for over 2000 years. It's use as a liver protectant can be traced back to Greek references. Pliny the elder, a first century roman writer (A.C. 23-79) noted that the plants juice was excellent for “carrying off bile”. Culpepper ( England 's premier herbalist) noted milk thistle to be of used in removing obstructions of liver and spleen and to be good against jaundice. The Eclectics (19 th – 20 th century) used milk thistle for various veins, menstrual difficulty and congestion in liver, spleen and kidneys.
Habitat: Milk Thistle is a very small genus of herbs distributed in Asia , Africa and Europe. It is highly cultivated by our company in Rajasthan. Mr. N. D. Prajapati is a pioneer person, who introduced this crop in India.

Crop Status: Milk Thistle is cultivated in Western Rajasthan. Cultivator Natural Porducts is the largest Organic Certified Milk Thistle Producer Company. We are having the total area for Milk Thistle cultivation is about 200 hectares (500 acres). The total area is organic certified by ECOCERT International, Germany according to the rules and regulations of USDA NOP, EEC 2092/91, JAS, BIO-SWISS & NPOP. Our Milk Thistle production is about 400 M.T.
Quality Aspect: In Western Rajasthan number of stress condition are present. Due to these stress conditions plant produces more secondary metabolites of the best quality as well as in quantity.
