OVERVIEW: Ziziphus spina-christi, the Christ’s Thorn Jujube, is an evergreen tree native to northern and tropical Africa and southern and Western Asia.
INTRODUCTION: Ziziphus is a desert plant; armed shrub or tree to 15 ft. tall. The leaves were powdered and used to wash hair before shampoo was available. Ziziphus made the hair clean, shiny and gave it a thicker texture, and did not change the color of the hair.
